Room 4: The Late Gothic
It is the first of the two small rooms dedicated to the late phase of the Gothic style, that in Bologna is contemporary to the beginning of the building of the St. Petronius church (1390).
The time frame of the exposed artworks covers the first half of the XVth century, from the St. Antnius Abbas by Giovanni Martorelli to the St. Bernardinus among stories of his life by Giovanni da Modena, dated to 1451.
Here can be found the first fresco painting exposed in the Pinacoteca, a Madonna with Child with playing angels, from one of the arch of the side porch of the St. James church.
