Room 12: The art at the Bentivoglio court
In this room, and in the next one, are displayed some of the most important artworks by Francesco Francia, charming representant of the elegant Bolognese Renaissance during the Bentivoglio family domination, starting from the Felicini Altarpiece of 1494, still following the '400 style, until the opening to the spatial solutions of the '500 with the Announciation (1500), through the progressive thinning of the architectural framework of the altarpieces coming from the Misericordia church: Scappi Altarpiece, Bentivoglio Altarpiece and Manzuoli Altarpiece.
In the left wall is displayed a small fragment with Two men's heads, the only existing witness from the fresco decoration of the Bentivoglio palace, destroyed by a riot in the XVIth century
