Room 14: The art at the Bentivoglio court
In this little room are desplayed the artworks by Amico Aspertini, painter who distance himself from the classicism, interpreting with a personal touch influences from the German graphical production and the heritage of the ancient art.
Here can be found the Adoration of the Kings from the church of Santa Maria Maddalena – painted after the tripo to Rome (1500-1503) – and the Madonna enthroned with Child and saints John the Baptist, Francis, George, Sebastian, Eustachius and two donors, it is the famous Tirocinio altarpiece.
In the same romm some other works like the St. Christopher the St. John the Baptist by Giacomo Francia, show the development of the Bolognese school after the definitive passage of Bologna in the domination of the Church state.
