n this room are on display some of the most important artworks of the XVIIIth century Bolognese school.

Here it can be found the most important collection of Giuseppe Maria Crespi's art.

His naturalism embodies genre scenes like the Farmer scene, while his work as a figure painter is exemplified by the Troni Family portrait, the  Self-portrait or by the Portrait of an hunter.

To the circle of Giuseppe Maria Crespi can be attributed the two scenes with the Stories of Judith by Giuseppe Marchesi called the Sansone, even with a less naturalistic style and a reasearch of theatrical and rethorical effects.

Two Self-Portraits hand down the look of two painters, father and son: Gaetano e Mauro Gandolfi.

The latter can be seen as the handover to the style of the Fine Art Academy, linked to the new Pinacoteca , founded in 1803.

The production of the 1800's is conserved in the collection, but not showed, and it is important to understand the directions of the Bolognese school under the Pope Government and, since 1860's, under the new Italian State.
